six of crows by leigh bardugo, 2015

i was watching readwithcindy on youtube and she loved this book so i thought, well, i haven't read in a long time so i will give it a go. i am so glad that i did because this book singlehandedly has taken me out of my reading slump that honestly lasted over many months. i fell in love with the grishaverse and joined the fandom after reading. it is a young adult fantasy so the depth of everything is not comparable with high fantasy that was written with intentions of impressing an older audience. the simplicity and, let's say, quirkiness, that mirrors one of a teen series (netflix attempted on adapting it. was good for the most part.) was very endearing and leigh bardugo knows how to make a person care about a fictional character like not many do. this book also made me want to read all of leigh bardugo's works. i'm working on it i swear. all in all, great book, i definitely want to re-read it soon as my first read was in 2021. i will definitely continue reading the grishaverse and fangirl lol.

this broke my heart and i loved it. that's it. that's the review.

the secret history by donna tartt, 1992

yeah, i loved it. this book can drag on but my parasocial attachment to the worst of the worst humans was strong enough to get me through this book in under 4 days and i loved 85% of the time i spent reading it. don't judge me for wanting to be a part of this friend group, there is something sooooo marauders-like in the way that they made me want to be a part of the group. maybe i just miss my friends. ok, moving on. donna tartt obviously is a great writer and she definitely inspired me. there's many things i could say about this book and i would love to make a shrine dedicated to this book one day.

DNF

bunny by Mona Awad, 2019

i have started this book as an ebook a while ago, probably beginning of 2024. i first was intrigued by the premise of the book but the style of writing really turned me off. i might pick it up again at some point, but my first attempt was very disappointing. i remember having to re-read passages that made no sense even after the 2nd read. i don't remember any specifics but for a horror book, i kinda do need to get the action for the book to leave any kind of impact.
